TITLE: “NO MAN'S LAND”

MATERIAL USED: PLASTER, STONES, LOGS, BONES, TETRA PAK ALUMINUM, MANGANESE DIOXIDE, COAL, RECYCLED PAPER.

TECHNIQUES: COLLECTING, PAINTING AND SCULPTURE.

"NO MAN’S LAND" WAS DEVELOPED IN THE BRANCA AREA IN ALBERGARIA-A-VELHA. A REGION MARKED IN HISTORY BY THE MINING EXTRACTION OF SULFUR, COAL, TUNGSTEN, GALENA, AND GOLD, WHICH SUPPLIED THE NECRO INDUSTRY OF THE WORLD WAR I. THE WORK “NO MAN'S LAND” SEEKS, IN ITSELF, THE ANACHRONY OF THESE CONFLICT OPERATIONS THROUGH THE ALCHEMY OF MATTER. IN PARALLELS BETWEEN LARGE-SCALE HUMANITARIAN FUNERAL EVENTS AND THE CURRENT SCARCITY AND DISAPPEARANCE OF NATURAL RESOURCES, IT IS IN THIS METAPHYSICS OF RAW MATERIALS THAT THE AFTERLIFE OF OBJECTS CREATES THIS TERRA NULLIUS. PLACES OF ANNIHILATION OF THE CORPOREAL, TRANSITIONING FROM NATURAL TO ARTIFICIAL AND SUPPRESSING THE ORGANIC. BONES, TREE TRUNKS, ORES, AND SOIL TRANSMUTE THEIR COMPOSITION INTO MECHANISMS OF SELF-DESTRUCTION. IN THE END, "NO MAN'S LAND" REFERS TO A BARREN OR UNINHABITED TERRITORY, OFTEN SUBJECT TO DISPUTE BETWEEN PARTIES WHO LEAVE IT UNOCCUPIED OUT OF FEAR OR UNCERTAINTY, A SUBTRACTION OF LIFE, WHICH I DENOMINATE AS ANTI-MOUNTAINS.
